Cookies & storage

WASCAPE doesn't run third-party advertising cookies and doesn't show a consent pop-up. What the site does store on your device is listed below. Most of it is the browser's own local storage rather than cookies. The full data-handling picture is at /privacy; this page is the storage-specific view.

HTTP COOKIES

Analytics · PostHog (optional)

When analytics is enabled, PostHog sets first-party cookies under eu.i.posthog.com to avoid double-counting sessions. These are anonymous: no account, no email, no cross-site tracking. Toggle analytics off in the in-app settings drawer and PostHog never sets them. Their policy: posthog.com/privacy.

Site cookies · none

WASCAPE itself doesn't set cookies. There's no login session, no shopping cart, no preference cookie. The browser's local storage handles all of those when needed (see below).

Advertising / tracking · none

No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no ad-tech, and no advertising profile. The site reads a one-time device snapshot to size performance (detailed on the privacy page), never to track you across sites. No third-party iframe that could set its own cookies on you.

OTHER BROWSER STORAGE

Beyond cookies, the site uses four standard kinds of browser storage. All of it stays on your device and is never read back.

  • ·Site settings, drive log, calibration (~5 KB)
  • ·Once-per-tab UI flags, cleared on tab close
  • ·Scene cache (~1 GB cap, oldest dropped first)
  • ·Offline shell, so the site loads without a connection

Full per-key breakdown at /privacy, and /data shows exactly what's on your device.

HOW TO TURN IT OFF

  • ·In-app analytics opt-out: settings drawer → privacy section → toggle off. Sticks across sessions on the same browser.
  • ·Clear everything WASCAPE stored: browser → site settings → clear site data. Removes the cookies and all the local storage above in one action.
  • ·Block storage at the browser level: most browsers let you blanket-block third-party cookies and site storage. WASCAPE still loads but loses the fast second-visit cache.
  • ·Want to see what's stored about you? /data shows the full picture. Pure read, nothing leaves your device.

CHANGES

New storage categories or analytics endpoints will be announced on /changelog before they ship. Renaming an existing key isn't announced.
